Salvia sclarea

The Clary sage (Salvia sclarea), also nutmeg sage, sage or Scharlei called Roman, is a species of the genus Sage (Salvia) in the mint family (Lamiaceae).

The Clary sage is an evergreen, perennial and biennial herbaceous plant with pleiokormer taproot. The plant height reached 50-110 centimeters. The large leaves are simple.

The bracts of Scheinquirle are longer than the calyx. The inflorescence axes with simple hairs and glandular hairs (muscatel smell) occupied. The flowers are hermaphrodite zygomorph. The cup is wide heart-shaped, shortly ciliate on the edge, purple, white or burgundy. The sepals are begrannt and piercing. The crown is 20-28 mm long, light blue, pink or purple. The corolla tube is inside the belly a little dandruff.

The flowering period extends from June to July.

The Clary sage is found in Central and Eastern Europe and West Asia. He settled cliffs, forests, fields and roadsides to altitudes of 2000 meter.
